Annual General Meeting and Election of GMCCA President and Vice-Presidents 2008 

The two-year term of the 3rd Board of Directors of GMCCA will expire by end of December this year. On the other hand, the Chinese Spring Festival 2009 will be in late January 2009. In order for the new BOD to have more time to prepare for the Chinese New Year celebration party, the BOD meeting held on October 10, 2008, decided to hold the GMCCA Annual General Meeting and election of its new president and vice presidents on Sunday, December 7, 2008. Prior to the meeting there would be a pot-luck party. Times and venues for the party and meeting are as follows:

Moncton Chinese Community Will Participate in the Greater Moncton Santa Claus Parade 2008

The Greater Moncton Santa Claus Parade will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 29, 2008.  The Parade is an important and traditional event in the Greater Moncton Area in the past several decades.

GMCCA will, in partnership with the Confucius Institute in New Brunswick, organize the Chinese community to participate in the parade this year. The Chinese community in Moncton participated in the parade in 1980s. This will be the first time for the Chinese community to show up on the parade in more than twenty years. [中文]

Celebration Party for Traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival and Beijing Olympics Games 2008
Date: Sunday, September 14, 2008
Venue: Dieppe Farmer's Market, Dieppe, NB

According to the meeting of GMCCA council  memebers and invited representives held on Monday, August 4, GMCCA will hold a celebration party for the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn festival and and for success of the Beijing Olympics Games 2008. The mid-autumn festival is one of the most important traditional Chinese festival. As all of you know, the 29th International Olympics Games  is ongoing in Beijing and will close on August 24, 2008. Chinese (Mandarin) Language Villages (Summer Camp) at MTA
Date: June 29-July 4, 2008
Venue: Mount Allison University, Sackville, New Brunswick
It is a one-week Mandarin summer camp for students from age 10 - 17. The campers will learn some Mandarin and Chinese culture, history and literature. [more details]
The 4th Annual Moncton Multicultural Festival
Date & Time: June 27 - July 1, 2008
Venue: Moncton, Dieppe and Riverview

The annual Moncton Multicultural Festival 2008 will be held on June 27-July 1 in Moncton, Dieppe and Riverview. GMCCA has been invited to participate in this important ethic festival. More details about the festival program can be found in the following attachment or from MAGMA's website

The 3rd Annual Dragon Boat Festival 
Date & Time: June 6th and June 7th, 2008
Venue: Jones Lake, Moncton, NB

This is an annual festival organized by The Greater Moncton Dragon Boat Festival Inc. which is a non-profit organization working in conjunction with the Lions' Sick Kids Fund to help families of sick children and provide financial assistance to the families in need by providing funds for meals, accommodations, fuel etc.....

Friday evening, June 6th, is the Education Challenge. Local High School Teams compete from 3 pm to 8 pm. The opening ceremonies of the festival will be held at 8pm on June 6th. The Opening Ceremonies include the "Awakening of the Dragon". As invited, the GMCCA dance team will perform some traditional Chinese dances on the opening ceremonies.

Saturday, June 7th, will see the Corporate and Community groups challenge each other in a 200 meter race.

Night of the Arts
Date & Time: 6:30 PM, Thursday, May 6, 2008
Venue: Riverview Middle School Theatre, Riverview, NB

This is an art program organized by Frank L. Bowser Elementary School, Riverview, NB. The school choir, the drama group, the gymnastics group, and the Puppet Club will perform on the stage. As invited by the school, the GMCCA dance team will present traditional Chinese dances on the event in support of the school’s art program about Chinese culture.
